I love being in the creative space of not knowing what will come up: movement and choreography. I enjoy listening to my body "online" and feeling into the music. My years of practice generates its own "knowing".
I anchor my concentration on the theme for the class and feel the information flowing in. I get "it" and communicate what I "get" in a form of a question to the class. These explorative questions are allowing our bodies to dance the question. To become the question.
Each question unfolds and reveals new more detailed, more specific questions. The movement becomes a dialogue. The dance becomes a prayer. More and more succinct to the theme at hand. What is revealed is highly personal as well as transpersonal. Embodying spiritual understanding, each to one's own.
For years I had prepared classes methodically over days and hours and developed the skill to throw it together in minutes. These days I prepare a playlist informing the wave of movement. There is a madness to the urgency of preparing a playlist last minute that makes it super juicy as well as a beauty to a well considered long cooked playlist.
I choose my music carefully and place it in organised folders: like a cook, i gourmet my yummy choices in my music kitchen. My ingredients are ready to be thrown into the pot. This allows my chaotic/chronic tendency to prepare the weekly playlist at a whim...I cook it with alignment to how I feel. Unless it sucked badly I stick with the same playlist and theme for a week.
